Films: Leprechaun Origins (2014)

Summary: Everyone who likes horror must have a soft spot for the little murderous beast in green that Warwick Davis brought to life in the 90s. Sure enough, this decade brought him back like it had so many others. But before our favorite leprechaun got the reboot he deserved, he had to settle with this totally unrelated guff...that's still quite terrifying in its own right.

History: In an abandoned village on the Irish countryside, there is a dark secret. You see, many years ago, the villagers had made a deal with a Tuatha De Danann, or a leprechaun as everyone here knows it as, that in exchange for keeping its stash of gold, they would offer sacrifices to it. After a while, the people mined the creature's cave, causing it to collapse and unleash the monster. Fifteen years later, almost no one lives there anymore, presumably because they're either dead or they escaped. But a bunch of friends have come, and they have no idea that the leprechaun is still out there...

Notable Kills: Impales someone on farming equipment, tricks some humans into burying their axes into a girl's head, and rips out a sap's spine through the back.

Final Fate: There is only one human left by the end of it all. She makes it to the monolith that wards the leprechaun off, distracts it with gold, and then lops off its head. However, as she leaves the accursed place, three other leprechauns watch her go. Someone get the "do not enter" sign out already.

Powers/Abilities: Impressive intelligence, as well as good strength.

Weakness: Easily distracted by gold, cannot enter places marked by a special symbol.

Scariness Factor: 4-This thing is NOTHING like the leprechaun we all know. Instead of a creatively violent wisecracker, we have this feral naked humanoid beast out to tear intruders apart. The disappointment is palpable, but that means little when you're here, there, and way over there after an encounter with this leprechaun.

Trivia: -The leprechaun was played by WWE star Dylan "Hornswoggle" Postl, who admitted to not watching the previous films due to wanting his performance to be its own thing. The beast in question took more inspiration from mole rats.

-In Irish mythology, the Tuatha De Danann, or "folk of the Goddess Danu", were basically the entire pre-Christian Irish pantheon of Gods. They had many names, were mostly benevolent, and their rivals were the destructive and chaotic Fomorians. When Christian monks came around, they tweaked the legends a bit to make the Tuatha De Danann more like warrior kings and queens (or fallen angels on occasion) as opposed to deities. That's not to say that they weren't always acknowledged as Gods, though.
